ABOUT YVONNE
Yvonne Liao is a designer, entrepreneur and the founder of Yvonne Liao, a luxury footwear company based in New York City. Her designs empower women to rediscover fun and live more vibrant lives.
After spending her life designing and drawing shoes and clothes, Yvonne was frustrated with products that lack personality, creativity and color and began prototyping a collection of flats, sandals, mules, high heels and sneakers. With 10 years of experience working in the fashion industry, she started learning shoemaking in 2018 and spent the last six years honing her design and shoemaking skills. She is planning to launch her first capsule collection in 2025.
A native of Singapore, Yvonne has a Bachelor’s degree from National University of Singapore and an MA in Luxury & Fashion Management from Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD). She lives in New York City with her husband, 85lb lab mutt Momo, and an enormous closet of shoes.
MISSION
Designed by women for women, our mission is to create bold, vibrant and comfortable shoes that empower women urban fashionistas to conquer any occasion – from boardroom meetings and elegant dinners to relaxed Sunday brunches and serene beach vacations in Bora Bora.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Our colorful and distinctive footwear designs are conversation starters - about shoes, about fashion and about community for women who are not afraid to be different from the crowd.
Our designs are inspired by the vibrant and energetic cities of Singapore, Hong Kong and New York where spectacular skyscrapers and unique people from all walks of life converge into colorful melting pots of food, art and cultures.
With an understanding about the interconnectedness between people and their environments, we are committed to ethical sourcing and production processes that aim to mitigate negative environmental impacts of footwear, such as using vegan materials and working with factories that have ethical labor practices in place.
"Sustainability is the forerunner of greater diversity and choice, not less. It offers meaningful work, greater diversity and choice, not less."
~ Paul Hawken, Environmentalist
